Poker: General Information
Poker is a popular game throughout the world. It combines principles of card games known hundreds of years ago in Europe and probably long before that in the Orient, but in its present form it is distinctly of American origin. There are many variations of Poker, but they differ mostly in details and all follow the same basic principles. A person who has learned these principles can play without difficulty in any game. Poker is a game of betting as to which player holds the best hand. In most cases, best hand contains the five highest-ranking cards, but what is considered the best hand can vary in some types of Poker. In a High/Low Poker game, two players have the opportunity to win and split the pot. The player with the highest-ranking hand and the player with the lowest-ranking hand win. All bets made by all players go in a pile of chips in the center of the table, called the pot. No player can compete for the pot unless he or she is willing to meet the highest bet made by another player. Because of this rule, players are able to bluff and win the pot. The object of the game is to win the pot. The pot can be won in two different ways. After all bets are in, all players that are still in show their hands. The player who has the strongest hand is the winner. The player can make a very high bet, which will not be supported by other players. In this case other players have to fold and the player with the high bet is the winnerwithout showing his cards. Poker is played with a 52-card deck. The cards are dealt one at a time, clockwise motion (number of cards varies with game). Aces are high, but aces rank low in the sequence A-2-3-4-5.

Etiquette At Poker Table
The winner racks the pot and only then you can move another player's cards. You can touch or move the cards of other gamblers only if they permit it. You cards are safe if you put them face down on the table and put a chip on top of them. The dealer has to offer a cut of the deck to the player to his right. The player can cut, tap or pass the cut to the player to his right. If the player decides to tap it means that there is no need for cutting. If you answer your mobile phone in the middle of a hand it means that you fold your hand. Don’t take your cell phone with you or turn it off. Players can’t talk to each other during the game. You can be asked to leave the casino in the case of some profanity or obscenities from you. Players can’t shout in the casino, even if you win or lose. You can leave the casino anytime. Every player must respect the dealer and his job. The dealer is not to blame if you don’t win. Cards must be discarded on a low line of flight so that people can't see them. Place chips as far forward as reasonably possible to make it easier for the dealer to scoop them. Speak up when you see an error such as an improper amount of a bet, a card going to the wrong person or a flashed card, or the pot about to be incorrectly awarded.

Poker History
The game of Poker is based on several games, but still nobody can say for sure what these games are. Poker can be based on one of the Chinese or Persian card games. According to some books and dictionaries the game came from France. China was the first country in which card games appeared, in Persia there was a game with 25 cards and 5 suits and in France gamblers began to use decks consisting of suits made from spades, diamonds, clubs, and hearts. The true origin of the game remains shrouded in mystery. In the USA the game of Poker originated from New Orleans and spread along the riverboats that traveled the Mississippi and Ohio rivers. The game of Poker became very popular nearly at once, but then it was a little different from the game we play now. Later, during the Civil War there appeared new variations of this game and they became very popular. Stud, Draw and Straight Pokers were introduced and they became every popular. New Poker variations such as Stud, Draw and Straight Pokers enjoyed wide popularity during the Wild West period of the US history. Poker is the only casino game, in which players play against each other, but not against the house. Though there are a lot of Poker variations, which differ from each other, the principle of winning hands remain the same. Nowadays Poker is played all over the world.
