Poker is played with a regular deck of 52 cards without Jokers. It is pretty much a game of chance. Sure there are a lot of professional players out there but the chance is always the same for anybody to get the right cards or not. After you make the first minimum bet, five cards are dealt at first, face down, to each player. After this first deal the first round of betting starts. You have to meet the highest bet to stay in the game. It is up to the player to decide which cards he wants to keep and which to throw away. You can hold all the cards as well as discard all of them. After everybody on the table decides which cards they want to hold or discard, the dealer deals the same amount of cards to each player as they threw away. Then the second deal and the betting round follow. After the final betting round there is a showdown. The hands of the players are compared. The player with the strongest hand is the winner.

In most cases, best hand contains the five highest-ranking cards, but what is considered the best hand can vary in some types of Poker. In a High/Low Poker game, two players have the opportunity to win and split the pot. The player with the highest-ranking hand and the player with the lowest-ranking hand win. All bets made by all players go in a pile of chips in the center of the table, called the pot. No player can compete for the pot unless he or she is willing to meet the highest bet made by another player. Because of this rule, players are able to bluff and win the pot. Every player tries to win the jackpot. A player can win the pot in one of the two ways. After all bets are in, all players that are still in show their hands. The winneris the player with the strongest hand. If during betting, a player makes a bet that no other players are willing to meet, that player wins the pot without showing his/her cards. The winner racks the pot and only then you can move another player's cards. You can touch or move the cards of other gamblers only if they permit it. You cards are safe if you put them face down on the table and put a chip on top of them. The dealer has to offer a cut of the deck to the player to his right. The player can cut, tap or pass the cut to the player to his right. If the player decides to tap it means that there is no need for cutting. If you answer your mobile phone in the middle of a hand it means that you fold your hand. Don’t take your cell phone with you or turn it off. Players can’t talk to each other during the game. You can be asked to leave the casino in the case of some profanity or obscenities from you. Shouting is forbidden. Remember that you can stop playing anytime. Have respect for the dealer and his job. It is not the dealer’s fault if you lose. It will be better if other players don’t see the cards you discard, so you’d better discard them on a low line of flight. Place chips as far forward as reasonably possible to make it easier for the dealer to scoop them. Speak up when you see an error such as an improper amount of a bet, a card going to the wrong person or a flashed card, or the pot about to be incorrectly awarded.

Later, during the Civil War there appeared new variations of this game and they became very popular. During the Civil War stud poker, the draw, and the straight Poker appeared and became very popular. New Poker variations such as Stud, Draw and Straight Pokers enjoyed wide popularity during the Wild West period of the US history. Only when playing Poker you play against other players and not against the house. Poker has many variations, although the rules of play and strategy differ, the hierarchy of winning hands remains the same. Nowadays Poker is played all over the world.
