Poker is played with a regular deck of 52 cards without Jokers. It is pretty much a game of chance. Sure there are a lot of professional players out there but the chance is always the same for anybody to get the right cards or not. Before you sit down at a poker table make sure to read the sign next to the dealer which shows the minimum table limit. After you make the first minimum bet, five cards are dealt at first, face down, to each player. After this first deal the first round of betting starts. To stay into the game you have to make a bet equal to the highest bet made by one of the players. Afterwards you have to decide which cards you want to keep and which ones you want to throw away. All the cards can be kept and all the cards can be thrown away. You will get the same number of cards in place of discarded ones. After the second and final deal the betting is about to start. After the final betting round there is a showdown. The hands of the players are compared. The player with the strongest hand is the winner.

Place chips as far forward as reasonably possible to make it easier for the dealer to scoop them. Never be silent if you notice some mistake or misunderstand something.

Only when playing Poker you play against other players and not against the house. There are a lot of Poker variations, which differ from each other in some features, but still the hierarchy of winning hand combinations remains the same.
