The cards are dealt in a clockwise direction. Aces are high, but aces rank low in the sequence A-2-3-4-5.

The game of Poker became very popular nearly at once, but then it was a little different from the game we play now. During the civil war other Poker variations appeared and they were very popular. Stud, Draw and Straight Pokers were introduced and they became every popular. During the Wild West period of United States history, a place where one could play Poker could be found in just about every town. Poker is the only casino game, in which players play against each other, but not against the house. There are a lot of Poker variations, which differ from each other in some features, but still the hierarchy of winning hand combinations remains the same. Nowadays Poker is played all over the world.
