Poker is played with a regular deck of 52 cards without Jokers. It is pretty much a game of chance. Sure there are a lot of professional players out there but the chance is always the same for anybody to get the right cards or not. Before you sit down at a poker table make sure to read the sign next to the dealer which shows the minimum table limit. After you make the first minimum bet, five cards are dealt at first, face down, to each player. After this first deal the first round of betting starts. To stay into the game you have to make a bet equal to the highest bet made by one of the players. Then you have to decide which cards you want to keep and which to discard. You can hold all the cards as well as discard all of them. You will the same number of cards instead of those you have thrown away. Then there is the last deal, which is followed by the betting round. The betting round is followed by the showdown, which determines the winner. The player with the strongest hand wins the pot.

The cards are dealt clockwise. Aces are high, but aces rank low in the sequence A-2-3-4-5.

The winnerracks the pot and only then you can move another player's cards. You can touch or move the cards of other gamblers only if they permit it. You cards are safe if you put them face down on the table and put a chip on top of them. The dealer has to offer a cut of the deck to the player to his right. The player can cut, tap or pass the cut to the player to his right. If the player decides to tap it means that there is no need for cutting. During the Civil War stud poker, the draw, and the straight Poker appeared and became very popular. During the Wild West period of United States history, a place where one could play Poker could be found in just about every town. Only when playing Poker you play against other players and not against the house. Poker has many variations, although the rules of play and strategy differ, the hierarchy of winning hands remains the same. Nowadays Poker is played all over the world.
